Privacy
Free Sitemap Generator keeps as little about you as it can. This page explains what we store, why, who else gets to see it, and how to have it removed. Questions? E-mail info@freesitemapgenerator.com.
Your account
- Your name and e-mail address, to log you in and to send you the e-mails about your account: activation, password reset and the like.
- Your password, stored only as a hash. We cannot read it, and we leave it out of our logs.
- The websites you add and their settings. To make a sitemap our spider visits the public pages of your website, just like a search engine does, and keeps the addresses, titles and errors it finds until the next sitemap.
- A log of the e-mails we sent you: which kind and when, so we don't send the same one too often. If mail to your address keeps bouncing, we note that too and stop sending to it.
Accounts that are never activated are removed automatically after about 100 days.
Newsletters and announcements
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and your mail program can unsubscribe you with one click. You can also unsubscribe here. The e-mails about your own account keep coming as long as you have one.
Cookies
We use one cookie, a session cookie that keeps you logged in. It disappears when you close your browser. We use no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics service.
Server logs
Like every website, our web server logs each visit: your IP address, the page, the time and your browser. We use these logs to keep the site running, to fix errors and to count visitors. Error logs can contain what you typed into a form, but never your password.
The Live Data package
If you install our Live Data package on your website, your visitors' browsers send us the address of the page they view and the links on it. That is all: no IP addresses, no cookies and nothing about the visitors themselves. We use it only to make your sitemap.
Who else gets your data
- Vang Hosting hosts our servers, where all of the above is stored.
- TransIP delivers our e-mail, so it sees your e-mail address and our message.
- PayPal handles payments for premium accounts. You pay on PayPal's own site; we never see your card or bank details. PayPal tells us that a subscription started, was paid or ended, with your PayPal name and e-mail address and a subscription number.
- hqapi.com makes the screenshots of your websites in the control panel. It gets the address of your website, nothing about you.
- IndexNow (Bing and other search engines): when you switch this on for a site, we send them the addresses of new and removed pages on that site.
- NoMore404 shows the uptime badge on our homepage. Your browser loads it from nomore404.com, which then sees your IP address like any website you visit.
We never sell your data and don't share it with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.
Your rights
You can ask us which data we have about you, have it corrected, or have your account and everything in it deleted. E-mail info@freesitemapgenerator.com from the address of your account. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
